The legendary Rolex reference 6062 “Bao Dai“, which was once belonged to the last emperor of Vietnam himself during the Nguyen Dynasty, has now set a new record as the most expensive Rolex watch ever sold at auction. The price? A whopping US$5,060,427 sold at the Philips‘ Geneva Watch Auction. The record-breaking price has also eclipsed the Rolex reference 4113 Split Seconds Chronograph, which was sold 12 months ago at US$2,402,600.
However, this is not the first time the “Bao Dai” watch has set a record in auction sales. Fifteen years ago, the same timepiece was previously sold for US$235,000 in 2002. Back then, it was the most expensive Rolex watch ever sold at auction.
Apart from the watch’s exclusive ownership, it boasts a triple calendar with moon phase in yellow gold as well as a black dial and diamond markers.
