In 1956, Jaeger-LeCoultre made a breakthrough by expanding its iconic Memovox collection with their world’s first alarm watch with automatic movement. To celebrate the brand’s 60th anniversary, the legendary Swiss luxury watchmaker has unveiled a limited-edition timepiece of the Master Memovox Boutique Edition.
Available exclusively in Jaeger-LeCoultre Boutiques around the world beginning this month, the Master Memovox Boutique Edition features a contemporary makeover that pays tribute to the brand’s 1970s Memovox Snowdrop collection. Equipped with Jaeger-LeCoultre Calibre 956, the watch’s automatic and self-winding mechanical movement contains 268 parts with a 45-hour power reserve, a 28,800 vibrations-per-hour frequency and a barrel. Since the Master Memovox Boutique Edition drew major inspiration from the Memovox Snowdrop, the dial retains its predecessor’s signature bluish-gray sunray brush.
The case, which measured at 40 mm in diameter and 14.06 mm in thickness, is equipped with an elegant stainless steel finish. At the back of the case, the watch is engraved with numerous words including the name of the brand itself as well as “Master Control” logo and “Limited edition of 500 pieces”. The strap, in the meantime, is made of a deep blue braided cotton known as “Trieste” while the calfskin lining is added for a more comfortable fit.
Setting time for the watch is never simpler, thanks to the well-crafted two crowns that comes with a bottom crown and an upper crown. The bottom part is used for winding and adjusting the time, while the upper part able to shift into a neutral position. To set the alarm function, the upper crown needs to be turned in a counter-clockwise direction while twisting the crown clockwise allows you to adjust the date.
