The upcoming 2018 UTGP or Uniqlo T-Shirt Grand Prix contest has finally revealed its theme, which will be none other than Marvel.
“We hope this will inspire artists and fans around the world to participate in UTGP in new and unique ways,” said Rei Matsunuma, Uniqlo director of the UT collaboration business.
The Marvel theme for 2018 UTGP is timely enough, given this year’s superhero trend seen in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2 and most recently, Spider-Man: Homecoming.
“We’re very excited about how accessible Marvel is to people around the world,” he added. “There are so many amazing pop culture phenomena each year and it’s our goal at Uniqlo to create amazing collections for all of them, whether for UTGP or our seasonal UT assortment. All of Marvel‘s characters, including fan-favourite women like the Black Widow or Jessica Jones, can be applied in the designs.”
This is not the first time Uniqlo has collaborated with Marvel since they have established a long partnership since 2009. Uniqlo will be accepting submissions for the contest beginning July 24 on Monday until August 31.
