Uniqlo has a new face and his name is Gordon Reid, who will be the brand’s newest global brand ambassador. Reid, of course, is the British professional wheelchair tennis player who has won two Grand Slam Singles, four Grand Slam Doubles and also a Paralympic singles gold medalist at Rio 2016.
“We are delighted that Mr. Reid joins us as the newest Uniqlo Global Brand Ambassador,” said Tadashi Yanai, Chairman, President and CEO of the Uniqlo parent company, Fast Retailing. “Mr. Reid is a champion of great resilience and human character, overcoming adversity to triumph at the highest level of his sport. These are exactly the values we look for in our brand ambassadors, so it will be a great honour to see him compete in Uniqlo apparel at Wimbledon, where he made history as its first ever men’s singles wheelchair champion.”
In addition to that, the appointment of Reid marks the first time a British athlete represents the Japanese fast-fashion retailer.
“It’s a real privilege to be joining Uniqlo as part of such a great team of global brand ambassadors,” said Reid.
