Tommy Hilfiger is venturing into an uncharted territory: designing clothes for people with disabilities.
The new clothing line will boast adjusted seams and openings that enable caretakers to dress the wearer. On top of that, magnetic closures are added as well to make the clothes easier to pull them over the head or get dressed with one hand. As for the trousers, both Velcro closures, as well as magnetic flies and zippers, are added along with adjusted leg openings and hems to fit the leg braces.
According to Hilfiger, he describes the effort as part of “the democratisation of fashion”. The new clothing line will consist of 37 men’s and 34 women’s styles based on its sportswear collection. Prior to the new launch, Tommy Hilfiger has previously developed them for kids collection last year.
