The Italian luxury menswear label, Ermenegildo Zegna, has tapped Robert De Niro to front its next spring’s latest advertising campaign.
According to the Ermenegildo Zegna artistic director Alessandro Sartori, he could not confirm De Niro‘s involvement but disclosed that he had “decided to change the concept of advertising and communication” for the brand.
“We are thinking of a communication platform that can trigger emotions, in line with the values of the group and my artistic direction. And that will tell the story of the brand and not that of the product, in a collage of characters with different identities but with stylistic affinity engaged in conversations,” he said.
Sartori was a former artistic director at Berluti before he joined Ermenegildo Zegna back in June this year, in which he assumed full responsibility across all Zegna labels as well as everything related to the creative operations. His first collection is set to debut in Milan in January next year for the fall 2017 season.
De Niro‘s involvement with the advertising campaign would be a major breakthrough for the brand since he has a long-standing relationship with Giorgio Armani. The 73-year-old Hollywood acting legend, who won two Oscars in 1974’s The Godfather: Part II and 1980’s Raging Bull, is set to star in David O. Russell‘s crime TV series as well as reuniting with director Martin Scorsese in the upcoming real-life mob drama, The Irishman.
