Who could have thought a mere burger box gets a high-profile fashionable makeover? This is exactly what happens, as popular fast food restaurant chain McDonald‘s made an unlikely partnership with acclaimed Welsh fashion designer Julien Macdonald to create a limited-edition burger box.
According to an interview via Huffington Post UK, Macdonald described the collaboration with the fast food restaurant chain as “definitely surprised“.
“Because everybody in the world knows that McDonald’s is. I thought this is something kind of unexpected. I like to do things in a fun way,” said Macdonald.
Inspired by his own fashion creations, the McDonald’s x Julien Macdonald burger box features a jewellery-like box design complete with a gold baroque crystal detailing as well as the signature McDonald’s Golden Arches in the middle.
“This is our first ever UK packaging collaboration, it’s a brave and exciting move and it’s like nothing we’ve ever done before,” said McDonald’s vice president of marketing Emily Somers. “To partner with such an iconic designer as Julien Macdonald is fantastic, and his beautifully designed star-studded box complements The Signature Collection perfectly”.
Unfortunately for the rest of the world, the McDonald’s x Julien Macdonald burger box is only available in limited quantities of 1,000 at showcase events around the UK and McDonald’s Leicester Square branch.
