It’s the time of the year, as Gucci ushers the festive season with its latest gift-giving campaign by collaborating with Ignasi Monreal. The Spanish artist, who first collaborated with Gucci in 2015 in the #guccigram project, reveals a series of digital art pieces that draw inspiration from the Greek mythology, Icarus and Hayao Miyazaki‘s 2001 animation masterpiece, Spirited Away.
“Icarus fascinates me because of his story, which could be read a bit like a mantra, I guess,” said Ignasi Monreal. “If you fly too close to the sun, you’re going to get burned. If you fly too low, you’re going to drown in the sea. It feels quite bluntly obvious, but I find it quite timeless, and reassuring.”
Apart from Ignasi Monreal‘s digital catalogue, this year’s Gucci‘s gift-giving campaign also includes an interactive Gucci shop windows via Gucci app where you use the filters to customise your pictures and digital cards.
