Gap Inc. or better known as Gap, has appointed Mark Breitbard as president and chief executive officer of its Banana Republic brand.
Breitbard will join the iconic American clothing retailer in early May and report to the CEO of Gap, Art Peck. He will replace Andi Owen, who has left the company last month.
“Mark brings significant retail leadership experience to Gap Inc., along with deep knowledge of the company and our customer,” said Peck. “We know what Banana Republic is capable of, and Mark‘s ability to drive transformation and innovation will help revitalise the brand and position it to achieve its long-term potential.”
Prior to his latest appointment in Gap, Breitbard was a former CEO of the San Francisco-based children’s apparel retailer Gymboree Corp. This would not be the first time Breitbard is working for Gap, as he previously served under Gap‘s Old Navy from 2009 to early 2010 as chief merchandising and creative officer.
Other than the two aforementioned companies, he also used to work for Levi Strauss & Co and Abercrombie & Fitch.
