What do celebrities like Kanye West, Ryan Gosling, Beyoncé and Cate Blanchett have in common? They have all favoured the clothes designed by the Belgian fashion designer extraordinaire, Dries Van Noten.

And now, Van Noten is getting his own documentary.

Simply titled as Dries, the upcoming documentary will focus on Van Noten‘s career spanning 25 years from his early start in the late-1980s where he made his breakthrough with the Antwerp Six, to the present day of his life. The film will include various interviews with Van Noten and his team, fashion critic Suzy Menkes, Paris-based Musée des Arts Décoratifs chief curator of fashion and textiles Pamela Golbin, as well as legendary style icon Iris Apfel.

Dries’ is a fascinating account of a fiercely independent designer whose use of vibrant colour and texture has set him out as a fashion giant and innovator,” a statement said.

“It took me a very long time to convince Dries to share his passions, his creative and intimate world in front of a camera. I followed him for a whole year and I think I came as close to him and his world as it is possible. I hope the result is a very personal insight into his life and career,” said Reiner Holzemer, who wrote, directed, and produced the documentary.

Dries will be distributed by Dogwoof Pictures and slated to be released sometimes in 2017. While we’re waiting, here’s a short interview Van Noten did with i-D 2 years ago:
