Balmain has named Massimo Piombini as the brand’s new chief executive officer, succeeding Emmanuel Diemoz, who “will leave the company after several years of exemplary leadership”, according to a statement.

“I am excited by this opportunity to form a part of the Balmain team, as the brand develops into a global leader in the luxury goods market,” said Piombini in a statement.

Prior to his appointment as Balmain‘s new CEO, Piombini was formerly a worldwide commercial director of Valentino for over 8 years since 2008 and also already a member of Balmain‘s board of directors. He will work alongside Olivier Rousteing to expand the brand beyond its signature luxury offerings as they aim to produce a more casual collection like denim, jersey and knitwear.

Olivier Rousteing, Balmain‘s creative director, has instilled a remarkable passion inside the house, overseeing the creation of a singular, recognisable spirit and silhouette, while always remaining focused on the mission of responding to the needs and desires of a new and diverse generation,” he added.
