My memory refreshed when I was there on Day 2 of KLFW for Dude & the Duchess show. When the first model walked down the runway, it was only then I realised how much things have changed for the label over the past 2 years. Holy camoly.
From a retailer that offers tailored shirts and basics with a twist, to a label that produces the RTW runway collection we saw at KLFW – it’s a leap. The collaboration with Jonathan Liang last year and the recent appointment of him as the creative director proven to be brilliant moves for the label.
Dude & the Duchess Fall/Winter Defile I (the collection’s name) exudes minimalist chic, and in a way it feels very French – like Emmanuelle Alt kind of French: never too loud, yet subtle, chic and classy.
The clever use of beautiful organza, velvet, asymmetrical cuts on the Duchess (womenswear) tugged my heartstrings, while the use of luxe fabrics and texture on the minimalistic sweater and top of the Dude line (menswear) – I’m talking about you, Gator Sweater, Gator Top and Camo Tee – urged me to drop by their Bangsar store tomorrow and check them out in person.
Ninja (since the top looks like a kimono) meets French organza.
Just great. Can’t say No to leather lately.
