US forerunner rapper Jay Z, who’s involved in many ventures, shows no sign of slowing down despite the bad publicity from Barnes New York recently (the controversy of African American shoppers detained after buying high-end luxury). He is stepping into the fragrance business by launching his men’s scent “GOLD Jay Z” on Black Friday (November 29th, 2013).
The famous rapper debut the fragrance by collaborating with Firmenich perfumer extraordinaire Ilias Ermenidis, the world’s second-largest perfume company.
“I was impressed with Jay Z’s style and confidence and was drawn to the ease with which he carries himself and all of his success,” said Ermenidis the nose. “He has a natural cool that people want a piece of. In developing ‘Gold Jay Z’, I wanted to capture both the vibrant ambitious part of Jay Z’s charismatic persona and his effortless style that he naturally embodies through a fusion of notes chosen by Jay Z.”
The aromatic fougere fragrance’s top notes contain yellow ginger, grapefruit and white cardamom with a touch of blueberry. For middle notes, it’s refined infusion of violet leaf, cypress, lavender, and luxurious vetiver with a thread of pink pepper gives a tailored, modern signature. The base notes are crafted with golden amber, patchouli, teak, and bourbon vanilla.
The luxurious aura of the fragrance is manifested in its name and its marble white packaging with golden cap, believed to be marketed as the giving of wealth for its wearer.
Wanna smells like Hov? “Jay Z Gold” will be priced at the range from $39 to $70 (around RM120 to RM220), depending on the size.
