How often do you do facial treatment? Ok… Do you even do facial treatment?
If your answer is “no” to the latter question – high five. I’ve never done any. Ahem.
I guess my closest encounter with a facial treatment was the last My Beauty Diary Mask I conveniently lift from my sis’ boudoir – you know, it’s one of those days when I’m in good mood and my schedule is less packed (woot!), I just feel like doing something to save my lustreless face from repelling more
women people I happened to meet.
Of course, off-the-rack mask is nothing close to the actual facial treatment (although I have very limited knowledge of what the aestheticians do during the treatment). The girls told me facial treatment is like a “spring cleaning” – you can sweep and mop your floor everyday, but you’ll need a more intensive cleaning that packs more punch in getting rid of the waste more effectively once in a while.
DRX Medispa is a medical spa by DRX Clinic that provide facial treatments and aesthetic solutions to both men and women. Situated in the building right opposite of DRX clinic in Plaza Hartamas, Medispa is a relatively new offerings by the famed dermatologist to its Malaysian clients.
DRX Medispa provides various type of facial treatments. I was prescribed with Essential Facial Plus, a standard and popular treatments among the clients.
The machine below is the key to Essential Facial Plus treatment, namely the “Dermal Aqua Dermabrasion” machine:
“Essential Facial Plus” treatment is basically a non-invasive facial treatment that does not cause any irritation or side-effects. It performs 3 simple tasks with the help of the machine above:
Vacuum-suck your aging facial skins away
Combining water flow and vacuum-suction technique, the machine gently sucks away the outer layer of your facial skin (the epidermal aging skin) while keeping your skin hydrated with flowing water.
The pressure of the suction is adjustable, and I ended up using the gentlest pressure as it’s the most comfortable for me. The aesthetician told me some women prefer stronger pressure because they believe “no pain, no gain” (oh well, women….)
Using ultrasonic vibrations to remove dirts
Using the shovel-shaped or blade-like probe of the machine that produces ultrasonic vibrations, aestheticians remove cuticle, acne and other dirts from your skin. The blade also performs skin exfoliation to preparing your skin for better nutrients absorption. The process was done by simply running the blade across your skin.
The best part of this is it also performs automated extractions – that means there’ll be no manual squeezing and popping of zits unless it’s really required.
Thanks to the prescribed regime, I was really happy that I need no manual extraction at all.
Maintain and protects post-facial result
It’s done by applying a vitamin C-infused facial mask that keeps your skin hydrated and nourished. You can feel a cooling sensation on your face after a few minutes of applying the mask. It’s as if your face is covered in a cloth damped with cold water.
The mask reminded me so much of the creepy Michael in “Halloween” the movie aha.
It’s a little cheesy to say my face glows after the treatment, but I have to say it’s the first time I saw my facial skin at its best and the healthiest level.
