Giorgio Armani is partnering with the British Fashion Council (BFC) for the launch of the New Bond competition to create a capsule collection for his Spring/Summer 2018 Emporio Armani line.
The competition, which opens to every school that are part of the BFC Colleges Council network, allows potential fashion students in the UK to submit respective designs in their chosen category: outerwear, footwear and bags. Three winners will be selected based on each aforementioned category, in which their chosen designs will be manufactured and sold in Emporio Armani stores in London, Manchester and Glasgow, as well as the official website at armani.com beginning September. The winners will also get their chances to work with the group’s designers on developing their creations at the Armani headquarters in Milan for a three-month period.
“British design schools are among the most interesting in today’s arena,” said Armani. “They produce unique talents, by encouraging the originality and individuality of each student. I believe that to be successful in fashion, creativity must go hand in hand with a pragmatic and realistic approach; I would like to use this initiative to encourage a dialogue between these two elements, giving the winners a useful opportunity to succeed and move forward in their careers.”
“We are excited to see such a renowned brand investing in the future of British talent, especially as Armani will be joining the London Fashion Week schedule this September,” said Caroline Rush, CEO of the BFC in a statement. “London is an international city at the heart of our diverse industry; sharing talent, skills and knowledge alongside a strong foundation of high-quality fashion education is the key to continued growth.”
In addition to the New Bond competition, a newly renovated Emporio Armani boutique will open on Bond Street on September 17.
