Diesel Black Gold, the upscale fashion line by Diesel, has announced that it will merge its menswear and womenswear shows beginning next June.
“Our men’s and women’s collections are really interlocked and I think this decision is a nice reflection of modern times and cultural changes,” said Andreas Melbostad, creative director of Diesel Black Gold. “The coed show will allow us to stress the idea of individuality of the young generations, which are more free from certain established divisions.”
According to Melbostad, the Diesel Black Gold‘s upcoming coed shows will feature 50% of men’s looks and another 50% of women’s outfits. He also stressed that “the show won’t be unisex. We will continue having a men’s collection and a women’s collection, even if there are already certain pieces which have a genderless attitude.”
“I have always been a big supporter of coed shows — we actually launched Diesel Black Gold in New York with a men’s and women’s show at the very beginning,” added Renzo Rosso, president of Diesel‘s parent company OTB. “Diesel Black Gold is now a point of reference for the contemporary market and it became crucial to communicate a strong, cohesive seasonal message.”
