Adidas Originals has unveiled a new short film titled Only the Essentials, which traces the history of the brand’s EQT footwear line from the early 1990s until today.
At the beginning of this 4-minute short film scored to a catchy techno beat, we learn from a male voiceover narration that “while the world is moving forward, adidas has fallen behind” and “down but far from out”.
As a result, adidas went to a full brand reset during the crucial year of 1991 that carries a motto of “everything that is essential and nothing that is not”. From there, the Equipment (or better known as EQT) was created to cater specifically for athletes.
